For those of you that like a bit of ‘Nice’ Jazz, Sardinia plays host to one of the best Jazz festivals in Europe. In August the small village of Berchidda (located just south of Tempio in the north east of the island) plays host to this unique festival attracting musicians from all over the world. 'Time in Jazz' was founded in 1988 by the famous Sardinian trumpet player Paolo Fresu who was born in the village in 1961. Concerts take place in the beautiful surroundings  from dawn until well into the night and range from small duets at sunrise to big bands in the evening.
Each festival has a different theme and this time round  it’s ‘Fuoco’- fire. Every year the locals open their doors to visitors looking for accommodation and for a modest sum you can get food and board. For the outdoor types there are two campsites nearby. Having been to this festival once I can honestly say that it’s a wonderful experience even if you don’t like Jazz! This year’s festival runs from the 9th-16th August.
